In a few weeks, we’ll crown the 10th champions of my poetry slam with YRDSB.

There are now 50 elementary schools with poetry teams & it’s been amazing to see what kids will express when given the chance.

I have a friend who’s a music teacher; he asked me if I would be willing to share a poem, written to music composed and played by the school band (grades 3-5).

With no rehearsal, we got together and made it all work! The kids were so excited and proud, and I loved the challenge!

This past weekend, I was invited to present at a camp in Haliburton.

There were so many young people who came up to me in tears after my presentation, saying that they felt seen by someone.

The evening was a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do.
