Today I had the honor of recognizing Amber Pagan, a Pre-K teacher at Nieman Elementary School, on the Senate floor. Amber was one of the finalists for the 2025 Kansas Teacher of the Year. Thank you for your service to our children, Amber!

Kansans pull together in times of tragedy. Today, we join together our prayers for the families affected by the heartbreaking loss of the flight from Wichita to Washington, DC & the families of the service members affected. I join those expressing thanks to the first responders.

This week, I had three amazing pages join me at the state capitol: Brynlee and Claire from Shawnee Mission West, and Elyse from Westridge Middle School. I have known Claire and Elyse since their earliest days, so it was extra special to welcome them to the Senate chamber!

This Tuesday was Alzheimer's Advocacy Day at the Capitol. I spoke with these advocates about how legislators can support research, early detection, and quality care for those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Thank you for speaking up and making a difference!

The young people of Loud Light are leading the way in our state’s fight for social justice. I’m glad I had a chance to speak with them about what they’re fighting for this legislative session!

This week, nearly 200 early childhood professionals visited the Capitol for Early Childhood Advocacy Day. I was honored to celebrate some of them on the Senate floor. Thank you to all of the early childhood professionals in Kansas who help our kids grow up healthy and thrive!

It was an honor to gather with Kansas Democrats from across the state for the annual Washington Days convention this weekend. I spoke about the ways Senate Democrats are working in the #ksleg to make life more affordable for Kansas families!

We have wonderful educators in Kansas! I spoke with a group of Kansas educators about their tireless work to support our students and our schools, and what we can do in the Legislature to help them.

Tuesday was Equality Day at the Capitol. I spoke with parents and young Kansans who are fighting back against Republican politicians' efforts to turn Kansas into a place that isn’t welcoming. I promise to always be an advocate for ALL Kansans in the #ksleg. 🌈

It was great to visit with Kyle, a pilot from Garden City, and his family on Aviation Day at the Capitol. Kinley, Kora, and Kelby especially loved visiting the Senate floor!

Thank you to Health Forward Foundation for a wonderful conversation on improving access to affordable healthcare for underserved communities in Kansas! We must bridge the coverage divide so that everyone has access to high quality healthcare.

This week, students in the Tri M Music Honor Society at Shawnee Mission West High School visited my office at the Capitol. Their passion for music and dedication to excellence is truly inspiring!

I love getting the chance to visit with the JoCo Dems. These volunteers do amazing work in our communities!

It was great to visit with Loud Light again this session. These young Kansans are fighting hard to protect reproductive freedom. Thank you for making your voice heard!
