Another good piece by Liam Scott who has covered this all the way through. VOA is one of the few media organizations that actually has a reporter covering press freedom. Good for them.
A beautiful piece of writing. Thank you Liam Scott for your consistent coverage of Alsu’s unjust imprisonment in Russia and our family’s plight. Voice of America has been terrific in its coverage and support as we fought to #FreeAlsu.
Nothing but respect for Diane M. Foley as she keep a bright light on the legacy of Jim Foley through the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation
Throughout our campaign to secure #Alsu’s release from wrongful detention in Russia, Diane Foley has been a tremendous source of strength and inspiration for me and my daughters. Diane M. Foley, your support has meant the world to our family, especially during those darkest moments
Thinking of Diane M. Foley and her family today. Jim’s death came in my first week at CPJ. And in the 10 years since it been a privilege to see how Diane has grown James W. Foley Legacy Foundation to help other families and improve journalist safety. Moral courage in action
My happiness for those released from prison in Belarus is overshadowed by sadness for all who are still behind bars. More than 1,300 political prisoners remain. Among them is Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty journalist Andrei Kuznechyk, who was arrested exactly 1,000 days ago. They all deserve freedom.
1,000 days ago today, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty journalist Andrey Kuznechyk was arrested while returning home from a bike ride. He remains behind bars in Belarus, separated from his two young children, all for the crime of being a journalist. He must be released. #FreeAndrey
During my time in Kyiv, it was inspirational to visit with Vlad Yesypenko’s wife Kataryna and daughter Stefania. Their family must be reunited, as depicted in this drawing Stefania gave me to share with US officials… who also seek his release. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty #JournalismIsNotACrime

The European Parliament overwhelmingly passed a (non-binding) resolution calling on 🇧🇾 authorities to ”immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners”, including my Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty colleague Ihar Losik
