I have time and again warned how ethically loose OpenAI is in its “win at all cost” attitude. Reconsider giving your data to them. Think twice about what gpt-4o being “free” actually means.

The AI research community has a moral imperative to stand against such abuses of human

he thinks he can say it's okay bc 'we never actually used it'. it's the threat that counted; the fact that you didn't use it means the threat worked

he thinks we'll believe him if he says he didn't know. how could that possibly be true?

Almost a week ago, OpenAI announced a desktop app and a model upgrade much before they had the capacity to roll those out to their paying clients (probably because of their attempt at upstaging Google I/O announcements).

“Academia is so easy and relaxed” or is it?

Interesting cognitive bias here. Successful academics are usually high achievers who can handle a ton of stress. It’s easy to see a successful academic from the outside and assume they must have it easy because they carry their stress

Flash is natively multimodal, faster than Haiku/3.5, and supports 2M context. We’re adding caching coming soon for even faster latency.

Today I learned CNC means other things beyond “computer numeric control”.

Regardless of the veracity of the allegations here, in my 17 years of working on AI, and interacting with senior scientists who have worked more than my lifetime, this is the first time we have heard of

This is a downright ugly practice that is not in concordance with industry norms and is probably a labor litigation candidate and whistleblower act violation. I am not surprised it's also by a company that has actively pursued unsavory options for their growth and preservation.

I found a guy on YouTube who asks 60, 70, 80, and 90-year-olds:

• Their biggest mistakes
• What they used to worry about
• One piece of advice for their younger self

Wildly enough, they all pretty much mention the same things.

Here are my top 7:

Yep! 3.5 is an irrelevant model these days and it's a surprise why anyone pays for it when better alternatives exist.
