Spoke at Columbia in NY at 'T cells in the Brain' Symposium at ALS Center. My talk: “Nasal Anti-CD3 mAb induces Tregs that Dampen Microglial Activation and Treats Neurologic Diseases including MS, AD and ALS”. Now in phase 2 MS trials and begin AD trials in April. Very Exciting.

Hollywood Trip. Neurology Grand Rounds at Cedars Sinai on “Immune Mechanisms in Neurologic Diseases.” At movie studio for my next film, LOVE KILLS, a medical thriller. Script done. I will direct. Looking for lead actor. At Cedars I was asked Nobel Prize or an Oscar? I said BOTH.

Received FDA approval to treat Alzheimer’s with nasal anti-CD3 (foralumab) in a 6 month phase 2 trial. Will assess safety, cognition and reduction in microglia PET imaging. Interviewed on Bloomberg News. Here’s link t.ly/cCtDe . Now treating AD and MS. Very exciting!

Visited scientists in Israel that were in my lab: Yaron Ilan, Arnon Karni &Keren Regev, Danny Frenkel, Lior Mayo. Was at pro-democracy rally with Lior. Basic work on nasal Protollin for AD and nasal anti-CD3 for MS that Danny and Lior studied in my lab are now in clinical trials!

At 30th Annual Race to Erase MS fundraising event in Los Angeles. So great to be together with David Hafler and Steve Hauser at the scientific symposium. After 40 years ago together in Boston, we are all still working on MS. Peas in a pod!

In New York for MS Society Pathways to Cure Global Summit focused on three cures: 1. Stop MS 2. Restore 3. End MS. The 3 cures are based on my 2004 book CURING MS in which I asked patients what they meant by a “Cure.” With Francisco Quintana and Tanuja Chitnis at the conference.

In Allentown, PA for Arnold/Deanne Kaplan chair in MS to honor Dr. Larry Levitt. We wrote famous Neurology for the House Officer book. In 1978 he sent Deanne with severe MS, I gave chemotherapy, she recovered, lived normal life. Deanne/Arnold, daughter/granddaughter, Levitt.

Saef Izzy presented exciting data on the use of nasal anti-CD3 to treat intracerebral hemorrhage at the AAN in Boston. Amazing effects were observed on bleeding, edema, and behavior. Here is a link to his slides: bit.ly/40SB1B1. Now must move into people!

Spoke in Sweden at ADPD conf on 'Immunotherapy of AD by Modulation of Innate Immunity.' Beginning initial trials of nasal Protollin to induce monocytes to clear Aβ and nasal anti-CD3 (Foralumab) to dampen microglial activation. So exciting to move the animal work to AD patients!

Published in PNAS that nasal anti-CD3 mAb (foralumab) decreases NKG7 and increases TGFB1 & GIMP7 in T cells in COVID, MS and healthy subjects. bit.ly/3yorVAo Finding a common immunomodulatory effect in people is a big step in treating human disease with nasal foralumab.

Great event today with establishment of the Dennis J. Selkoe Distinguished Chair in Neurology. Tracy Young-Pearse is the first incumbent. I spoke in honor of Dennis, his achievements and our half century of working together. Amazing how time flies and how much we accomplished!

After 3 years we identified a dose (50ug) of nasal foralumab (anti-CD3) in healthy subjects that modulates effector CD8+ T cells and induces a regulatory response (bit.ly/3QPORRi). Now treating 8 progressive MS pts. Visited two of them in the MS Center. Very exciting.

Attended Renaissance retreat in Charleston SC, for leaders in business/government, science and the arts. Spoke on Alzheimer’s nasal vaccine. Had fun interacting with David Gergen (advisor to 4 presidents) and Hawk Koch (Hollywood producer and president of Motion Picture Academy).
