What’s behind this new trend of appointing ‘CREATIVE DIRECTORS’ instead of ‘ARTISTIC DIRECTORS’ at some venues?

Is it just a language thing or behind it there’s actually more serious implications (say, as an AD you report to the board, as a CD you report to the CEO, etc?)
