I've been getting a lot out of Vipassana, it's both rewarding in the moment and seems to help me control my emotions and focus better when not meditating

I think there genuinely is a conceptual riddle about why 'there are' any first person POVs at all. It's similar to the question of why there's something rather than nothing.

First person and third person stuff are conceptually distinct so the question comes up in both cases

The idea is a p-zombie would not 'genuinely feel' anything, bc feeling implies consciousness.

I think zombies are impossible, but there's nothing 'incoherent' about them. Just imagine a human, but refrain from imagining anything from their first person POV. That's a zombie.

Contrary to claims SB 1047 would only impact AI megacorps, “covered models” include any non-derivative model that is as generally capable as circa-2024 frontier models. Algorithmic progress means in a matter of years, smaller players and even hobbyists *will* fall into its scope.

if it is in fact true that OpenAI / Anthropic cannot turn a profit without banning open source AI

policy people who work at them are in a pretty bad ethical pickle

this is true regardless of anyone's purity of intent going into the situation

Been learning about Buddhism recently, it seems like Theravada is just bad and would recommend suicide to stop duhkha if it didn't believe in reincarnation, but the Mahayana school and specifically Zen may have interesting salvageable insights.
