The implementation of the CYBERCRIMES (PROHIBITION, PREVENTION, ETC) (AMENDMENT) ACT 2024 is tantamount to a legal/legitimate cybercrime disguised as a CBN directive !!!

In Todays Nigeria, an officer popularly called “Hajiya” of the Nigeria Police Force assaulted and battered me today at Mabushi police division, FCT Abuja, just because I went there in my client’s interest. Nigerian Bar Association in 2024 we are still dealing with police officers assaulting lawyers.

This is unacceptable. A lawyer should not face this kind of assault and intimidation for simply doing her job. FCT POLICE COMMAND should ensure this is thoroughly investigated.

This is the kind of advocacy I am willing to support.

We will challenge the oppressive 0.5% levy arbitrarily imposed by the FG in the coming days at a court of competent jurisdiction. Citizens should not continue to pay heavily for the greeds of leaders especially amidst economic hardship.

To be clear, the Cybercrime (Amendment) Act, 2024 did NOT provide for a 0.5% levy.

It provides for 0.005% levy. It was in fact bracketed for clarity.

Why is FG charging 0.5% when the law says it should charge 0.005%?

0.5% is not same as 0.005%.
