Interviewed a software engineer for a fairly senior role today. Gave him an exceptionally easy coding question which should have taken ~10 minutes max.

His response: 'Sorry, I'm going to respectfully decline to code this'.

??? what did he expect, 'what's your biggest weakness?'

It always strikes me as a little ridiculous when people say the Camp David deal wasn't good enough for the Palestinian side, as if what's happened in the decades since hasn't been so horrendous that obviously they would be astronomically better off had they taken that deal

I actually see this argument made by the brainwormed Twitter fringe about children not being entitled to the 'emotional labor' of parents, and it's really a full horseshoe moment. people who love to hear themselves talk just say the stupidest things, across the political spectrum

I don't really care if this is 'logically consistent' with a deeper philosophy or whatever. If you earnestly believe this, you're a psychopath and I honestly question whether you're human enough to really have a place in a functioning society.

The other point is that you can say “well, in the future, the floor will be hit”. And OK, maybe that’s true — but then you’re betting that no other changes happen against you, and that things stay stable or moving in your direction. And that’s a dangerous bet that rarely works.

I see this a lot, but there is no empirical basis for saying that an area or a demographic is essentially “tapped out” for a party until they’re receiving ~95% of the vote there. A party falling from 20% to 10% of the vote share among a demographic or region happens all the time!

Notably, this is a huge shift from 2018, where Brown had a blue wave and a 6:1 spending disparity driving his win. This time, the Rs are outspending him.

We have it at tossup for now because Moreno is an atrocious candidate, but if forced to choose, we’d lean towards the GOP.

Biden may be doing something terrible. But this argument shows a VERY basic ignorance of US politics. There are at least as many electoral dangers to Biden on the other side of the eqaution as on the pro-Pal side. This is something you think if you only spend time on a college…

Immediately following October 7th, virtually every Western leader was united in favor of Israel’s right to respond. It’s hard to properly fathom just how completely and utterly Netanyahu has botched support that once seemed unshakable.

Here's the Biden v Trump national polling average since last July, using the current 538 methodology applied backwards in time. Not a lot of movement in the national polls! And always inside the model's MOE. Biden has improved since Dec/Jan, but he's been underwater since Oct.

'All kinds of Democrats criticizing the President publicly. I don't understand why. I don't know what's in it for you to do that. Whether you're just chasing clout or you want to make it into the news' - John Fetterman February 22, 2024

Here's a dot map of the 1964 presidential election in New Mexico. LBJ easily won the state by coming ahead in both urban and rural counties.

If Angela Alsobrooks did this, basically everyone in Trone's orbit would be yelling about her being 'unfit' for the seat or something.

FWIW it says a lot about Trone that the Dem establishment has largely lined up behind a county executive over a rich, sitting Congressman.
