My heart always sinks a bit when wisteria season is over, but there are compensations.

Saw Sargent & Fashion Tate. Utter sumptuousness & interesting on the power of fashion: eg to convey authority, to ruin reputations (painting the broken strap on the evening gown damaged both painter & sitter) & to subvert gender roles (last image).
