We were days away from opening the Chalmers Street entry at Central when a fire ripped through a Surry Hills building just metres away.

6 months later, the building that withstood the impact of falling walls, heat and gushing water, has been rebuilt and is now open.

🚧 As part of the Rail Repair Plan, over 500 workers fixed 12 high-priority defects across 30 kilometres of track in one weekend.

Crews also completed 7.5km of track grinding to extend the life of the rails and make train rides smoother.

570 high priority defects removed in a month, 1,346 to go.

While disruption is painful, we're getting on with the job of fixing our railway to ensure the network is safe and reliable for years to come.
