Quiet day on The Corrib today. Big wind/wave and a wet arse to boot. Lots of small harvesters to wet fly but a few good ones among them, including this very silvery one. Back to The Mask tomorrow.

Big wind, big wave, a short -lining day on wet flies on The Mask. Likely the best of my dozen for the day. A healthy 3lb surely. Mr Coyne likely the best company and boat partner to be out with on a wild day.

There you go @EscosseFly and Robert Edmunds knocked up few, used a slightly darker grizzle on these ones, but close enough. Done a couple in the Irish May time colour with Golden Olive JC cheeks. Nice looking pattern, I'm sure it'll travel.

Two years ago to the day, ring plover nest. I walked and watched it every day - eggs all predated before they even hatched. They did try a 2nd nest close by which likely suffered same fate. I saw no young birds.

Tell Tale Signs - as Bob Dylan said. Mr Sparrow Hawk made an early visit to the bird feeder and drinking water I guess.

Anyone else fishing the moorland waters seeing hatches of small heather beetles like this. There were plenty last season but this year the hatches are massive. trout gorgeing on them albeit they're a third the size of a Coch y Bonddu.

Grief, the sun shown today. First time in a long time I've kicked the bar on Aberystwyth prom. Took in a couple of the other ' tourist ' attractions too.

I didn't know my hands could get so cold. Few hours up in Snowdonia today in a boat. Bloody freezing, no fly life but a dozen to the boat on intermediates. Not much prettier than a wild Welsh Brown trout from a pollution free Llyn.

Corruption in the Bay didn't start yesterday . . .

Over a decade ago Welsh Government sold the Ferodo site in Caernarfon to Bluefield Caernarfon Ltd, which dissolved in January 2016 with 4 outstanding debts
…te.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/063179…

Bluefield Caernarfon was 35% owned by Bluefield

The First Minister took £200k from a convicted polluter.

He cannot act as judge and jury in his own case.

We need an independent inquiry under the Ministerial Code.

Another wee batch heading to the northwest corner of Scotland, plus getting ready to kick off the season on my local waters, a top up for my own box

First wee chuck of the season today off the bank, high in Snowdonia. 10.30 start and very cold and strong wind. Warmed up about noon and a few came up to play before I called it a day at 2pm. Even a double header all on the same fly, one point and one top dropper. Ross 👍

There you go guys - today's dying art form in 100% fur and feather. For a longtime client heading to South Uist chasing a few sea trout in a couple of months. My traditionals, variants and bomber muddlers to his recipe. Just add a decent blow.!!
