The betrayal is doubly worse- in the world you expect this, it should not be named among the covenant people of God. Almost every woman has to be on guard in every situation. We’re trying to find a way to talk about this.

While it’s a woman’s voice who has to be heard, it’s men who have to own this. Trying to connect as men in areas we have been dull and complicit in. If the church is no less safe than the world, there’s a problem.

It’s much easier so it seems for our leaders to recognize s*xual abuse when it becomes clear that it’s happened.
