Choosing what pieces, if any, to submit where. Most will be rejected by me first, and most of the remaining will be rejected by journals/publishers. Maybe 1 in 50-100 (+?) make it somewhere like home. This is absolutely how it should be.

I've noticed my acceptance rate is notably higher for submissions sent by email vs Submittable. Anybody have a theory on that? (It would seem email is preferred in the UK...I think...)
