An excruciating number of talented journalists are getting laid off from the Los Angeles Times today. My former colleagues are among the best of the business, and they don't deserve this. Any news outlet would be lucky to have them.
I'm still at a loss of what to say about these layoffs at Los Angeles Times. I'm still employed. But this is such a blow to journalism, not just in California but across the U.S. -- and at a critical juncture for what's left of democracy too.
