Andrew is the real deal. I’d strongly recommend time with him even if it were in the Arctic. But Santa Barbara? STRONGLY recommend anything he does. In my view, he’s a credit to our field and the kind of instructor we all wish for.

On the face of it, this is a funny mistake (no, not an oxymoron). But, when you're in the context (the walk between Jubilee Line & West Ham overground) you understand that within the unavoidable right-hand turn, one must keep left.
How many tweets are similarly misunderstood?

Big yes. This is such an important point for research literacy. 👇🏼 Was looking at a meta-study just the other day where the definitions were almost counterintuitive to me. Always worth checking what researchers mean by their terms, even if they *seem* like common words.

Increasingly, I think there are/will be ways to smartly partner with AI to allow teachers to provide more thoughtful, targeted feedback. This shouldn’t replace teacher feedback, just put our focus back on process and problem solving, where it belongs.

NEW BLOG POST! 👇🏼 If you care about literacy I hope you care about media literacy, too. Just this year the World Economic Forum rated mis/disinfo as the #1 global threat. But teaching it doesn’t have to be gloom and doom. Quite the opposite. Come learn why!

Cold calling, in my experience, is a low-cost/high-yield strategy that transforms class culture, creates a sense of accountability/speed/teamliness, can be done strategically to bolster discourse and inclusivity, and in no way needs to cause anxiety for students in struggle. 👍👇🏼

Happy 1-month(ish) 📚 birthday to Gram and Gran: fiction for kids that teaches media literacy—by educators, for educators (and parents, and most of all kids)! Think Encyclopedia Brown meets The Phantom Tollbooth, and don’t take my word for it. 👇🏼gramandgran.com

What an amazing response to this 🧵: more than 100 very short stories and still counting! I've consolidated what people suggested as of this a.m. and added links. Just scroll to the bottom of my resources page here: stevechiger.com/resources/ ...

I’ve encouraged a pre-mediation approach for tier 2 middle school readers (w/o major decoding issues) like the one described here, so very exciting to hear TS’s take!
