Our team used a thermal camera to capture temperature readings of a few street markets in Delhi. The highest reading recorded was 59°C. It's hard to even imagine how our street vendors are dealing with the heatwave.

In Frontline, I write on the suggestion for inheritance taxes in India and the engineering of a bizarre and irrational atmosphere of fear around it. Economic inequality in India has skyrocketed, and it is only apt that the idea is openly discussed.

You know what else is key to ? Reducing poverty, improving nutrition, and making drugs available. Awareness is useless on its own.

Also, can't really adhere to treatment if drugs are out of stock.

Central govt can't be bothered with fixing rates? It can fix rates for 50 crore under Ayushman implemented by States
But Centre will throw middle class who don't come under Ayushman to the wolves and let them deal with rampant loot saying it is the headache of state govts?
WHY?

Rema Nagarajan Same experience myself. Lower rate for insurance is supposed to be bargaining power. But, the time-value of receiving immediate payment from someone who goes direct should be more than enough to equate the rates. What a scam. Like I want to stay a minute longer in the hospital !!
