Opium Tincture (Laudanum) is sometimes referred to as the “Aspirin of the Victorian Period.” It was a popular painkiller recommended for all sorts of ailments including coughs, rheumatism, and 'women's troubles.' This empty bottle is from the Wellcome Collection, London.
