Our group member @joaomigpereira has been busy working with his supervisor Dr Ceri Lewis at ExeterMarine 🌊✍️🔬For several weeks, João has been identifying microplastic polymers of deep-sea sinking particles with the FTIR!

Our researcher Yasmina Rodríguez was invited by SPEA to present her research work at the II transnational workshop of the LIFE SeaBil project (pt.lifeseabil.eu), which addressed the issue of monitoring the impact of marine litter on seabirds.

Our new paper on buried #microplastics is out!

One year later we recovered the sediment trap! During the past year this equipment collected sinking particles reaching the #deepsea , and potentially it will help us to quantify the #microplastics entering the deep sea.

Can't wait to see the results!

Today we say goodbye to our colleague Cristina Villanova Solano from AChem Research Group and IMPLAMAC partner.

She spent the past 3 months working with us on #microplastics contamination in keystone marine species of the #Azores
