At least when the US networks got the 2000 election wrong, it was based on some sort of statistical model. Yesterday was just random people gossiping and Kuenssberg repeating it as gospel.

Oh please God, not this nonsense again. Firstly, in a democracy the test is whether you have 50% + 1, not 60%. Secondly, 60% for six months is unattainable, so making that the target renders independence impossible. Nothing more should need to be said.

Labour have clearly won the West Midlands mayoralty as well, which is an even bigger failure of the pre-count briefings. Maybe the anti-Sunak plot will be back on. Tees Valley doesn't exactly outweigh Birmingham and London.

I know I keep saying this, but the BBC's election results coverage has a weirdly amateurish feel to it. None of the presenters are at all suitable for it, whereas Sky's are much more assured. General election night could be a shambles for the BBC unless they draft someone in.

That's yet another reason why the SNP would have been better off with Kare Forbes as leader - it might have avoided a split vote in the Western Isles.

Well...it's technically right that they weren't responsible for what other people were doing behind them at that precise moment, but it's hard to believe they weren't aware that there were some extremist signs at that event.

It never made the remotest sense that Sadiq Khan would lose in these circumstances. God knows where those rumours came from yesterday, or why normally sensible people were taking them seriously.

Mairi McAllan must have been an odd child. She didn't watch the Daily Politics or This Week. She probably doesn't even know who Jo Coburn is.

One simple first step for Labour decision makers to demonstrate they have listened to what so many people are telling them on Gaza, not just members of the Muslim community but from right across our society, is to demand an end to arms sales to Israel.

This is just getting ever-more hilarious. I have been to three indy rallies in my whole life, and I'm not sure any of them were AUOB. If so, it was one at most. I'd be fascinated to know what my 'antics' were, all I remember doing is standing and walking.

The message just isn't getting through, is it? As I told you the other day, I have no connection to AUOB whatsoever and I never have done. By saying things like 'James Kelly of AUOB fame', you just identify yourself as part of the tinfoil hat brigade.

This is also what genocide looks like. And it certainly isn't cheap. Israel has done it with state-of-the-art, American-supplied weaponry.

David Forrester Sam Taylor Yes, I've always found that the simplest test of whether someone has a hinterland is their awareness of the existence of Andrew Neil. No Neil, no hinterland. To not know who he is is to be literally cut off from the richness of human existence. We can only pity her.

When, like me, you've been an unquestioning Unionist for most of your life and then started to have severe doubts in the post-Brexit years, you begin to see things you didn't see before. It's hard to overstate the (negative) subliminal effect of this imagery. THREAD

This is just idiotic. Why can they not just let the members decide when the moment comes? If Kate Forbes is as awful as they think she is, why not trust the members to see that? Or is the real fear that she could actually be the right leader?
