Labour have clearly won the West Midlands mayoralty as well, which is an even bigger failure of the pre-count briefings. Maybe the anti-Sunak plot will be back on. Tees Valley doesn't exactly outweigh Birmingham and London.

I know I keep saying this, but the BBC's election results coverage has a weirdly amateurish feel to it. None of the presenters are at all suitable for it, whereas Sky's are much more assured. General election night could be a shambles for the BBC unless they draft someone in.

That's yet another reason why the SNP would have been better off with Kare Forbes as leader - it might have avoided a split vote in the Western Isles.

Well...it's technically right that they weren't responsible for what other people were doing behind them at that precise moment, but it's hard to believe they weren't aware that there were some extremist signs at that event.
