Uplifting bus service in #melbswest is long overdue and can pay big dividends insofar as reducing car dependence and improving economic security in the context of increased inflation/fuel prices.

Sunshine deserves much better! Get used to the disruption too, the Airport Line will cause much more of it. It'd be OK if the gov't was forward thinking, but they're failing to plan now for future projects like SRL or Western Rail Plan - so we'll do it all again then. #springst

The Minister for Public T'port and The Minister for Roads are the same person, Ben Carroll ! Surely he could get the bureaucrats in the relevant depts to work together on this and achieve an outcome that works for transit, roads, heritage, and community? #melbswest #springst

In today's Star Weekly News: "A state government spokesperson said elevated twin tracks was the 'best option' for [the Albion] part of the airport rail project" ...but declined to release the alternative designs that 'best' was based on. #melbswest #springst

Respectfully Sarah Connolly, "delivering for the west" requires more than just handing out pamphlets. A good start for Albion would be a quality airport rail link rather than the half baked flyover, preserving the flour mill, and rebuilding Albion station. #melbswest #springst

Following on from the article in The Age this morning, 7NEWS Melbourne did a piece about the watered down Sunshine Super Hub this evening and the government's unwillingness to release the masterplan until after the election. What are they hiding? #springst #melbswest

I hope to see an alternate future plan for Sunshine, where a redeveloped station connects people into the heart of our suburb. The locals and Council have a vision for how this can be done. Greater Sunshine Community Alliance BrimbankCityCouncil Cr Jasmine Nguyen - Brimbank Council

This massive gum tree beside the tracks at Albion station isn't in the path of the double track elevated viaduct being being built for the Melbourne Airport Rail project, but they chopped it down anyway.

Note the CGI renderings of the viaduct released back in August 2022 - showing the tree still in place. x.com/aussiewongm/st…

It seems the only reason they chopped it down is because they wanted to reroute the services to an underground conduit running a straight line parallel to the railway line, and routing them around a tree would be too hard.

We started a petition about the Hampshire Rd overpass being closed and turned into a pedestrian bridge. Sounds good until you realise it's too steep for most people (certainly not the disabled) and will create more traffic, not less. parliament.vic.gov.au/view-sign-e-pe… #melbswest #springst
