Liberal Democrats will continue to call for an immediate, bilateral ceasefire - to put an end to the appalling human suffering in Gaza, and get hostages home to their families.

This is awful. People caring for their families are being hit with huge debt demands for tiny oversights from years ago.

The Conservatives need to call an immediate halt to these repayments and launch a review to prevent this happening again.

Today, six months on, I am thinking of all those Israelis and Palestinians who have had their lives turned upside down by this dreadful conflict.

For years Liberal Democrats have called for far tougher control of arms exports, so that British arms are not being used in conflicts such as the devastating one in Gaza.

The UK Government must take swift action to suspend arms exports to Israel.

They braved the horrors of war to get food to starving families. Their deaths are horrifying and heartbreaking.

This violence has to stop. Now. We need an immediate bilateral ceasefire – a real ceasefire that finally sets us on the path to a lasting peace.
