Not me crying watching the Black students at Stanford provide free breakfast for everyone at the Palestine encampment. 😭😭😭

I talk to a lot of random readers. People are alarmingly disengaged from so many reading experiences. How do we welcome folks back?!? To reading! To scale!

Mostly what I was saying yall is that if we want these advances to hold we TRULY NEED MORE PEOPLE BUYING BOOKS.

Advances are so important obviously, but why does no one talk about royalties (which you have to earn the advance out to get)?

(Leading question—we have a marketplace problem.)

While the media ignores them, students at community colleges ARE protesting genocide too.

They have far fewer material resources to leverage but are just as important. I’ll flag them in this 🧵 as I learn about their efforts.

You probably don’t want to work for anyone who makes sweeping judgements like this based on large, complex data sets, anyway. I wouldn’t stress about it.

Sadly the op-ed in question actually says 'there is room for more than one point of view on what CONSTITUTES genocide' which is far worse, bc there is a very plainly written legal definition of the term which folks seem to want to willfully ignore.
