I mentioned a great podcast interview and summary on the World on the Brink from Kara Swisher with Dmitri Alperovitch and Chris Krebs in our latest newsletter from Rain Capital

Dmitri Alperovitch Kara Swisher Chris Krebs American University Kogod School of Business Loved listening to this. Wished the risks to China regarding the Taiwan invasion was discussed. From the discussion seemed like a win win for China, but that’s certainly not the case, right? Any recommended readings?

Was completely predictable (and indeed predicted).

China was only playing ball in attempts to forestall more derisking and attract foreign investments back into the country. That was never going to happen and they are finally realizing it

A semi ended my chase early today. I'm okay. What really matters is the devastating damage these storms have done and are continuing to do.

As a former Trustworthy Computing team member during this time period, this by Steven Sinofsky hits home and I happen to share his view. What was a pan-MSFT function was distributed and subordinated (in this case to Azure).

Really enjoyed taping this pod w/ Kara Swisher & Dmitri Alperovitch. We cover a ton of ground and could have gone on longer, I guess that's why people write books? (Order Dmitri's book !). Thanks to American University and Kogod School of Business for hosting!

Tune into CNN this hr for a piece of my intv w/ Sec Blinken in Beijing. He said there’s evidence of China attempting “to influence & arguably interfere” in US elections.. & “it’s a concern” that China is seeking to mirror Russia’s playbook of influence campaigns in the US.

If you care more about the Election than about how the Falcons are gonna fuck this up, you’re everything that’s wrong with America

Falcons publicly said they weren’t interested in Lamar Jackson last offseason. (Just won his 2nd MVP)

This offseason signed Kirk Cousins to a $180M deal AND drafted Michael Penix Jr. with the #8 pick.

Either guy could potentially turn out to be great for them, but that is WILD.

Absolutely wild story. A Baltimore County principal was seemingly caught on recorded audio making blatantly racist and anti-Semitic comments.

After investigation... the audio was fake. AI-generated, in a plot by the school's former athletic director. thebaltimorebanner.com/education/k-12…

I get the impression that VPN endpoints are kind of important.
Attackers are exploiting Cisco ASA devices in the wild.
Cisco has fixed CVE-2024-20353 and CVE-2024-20359, but they have yet to discover the initial entry point vulnerability. 😬
