Ok but even if it's flat since 2019, maybe 900k a month (1 in 30 employees) is a 'sicknote culture'?
Well here's how the UK compares with other OECD countries on days lost to sickness.
Yes it shows that the UK is an outlier. But no, that's not because we spend more time off sick.

Where we do have a big problem tho is rising worklessness. 'Economic inactivity' is higher now than it was in depths of pandemic, and long-term ill health is biggest driver.
BUt as this from Office for Budget Responsibility shows it's being driven by people *already out of work* for more than three years

Updated info about the WCA reforms announced in the Autumn Statement makes it clear that these are primarily cash-saving, rather than employment-boosting, efforts.

By 2028-29, 457,000 people are expected to lose benefits support...and only 15,400 are expected to move into work.

Cut in funding for schools serving disadvantaged children was deliberate policy.

- Real value of pupil premium down 14%;

- National funding formula gives less weight to deprivation than local authority formulae;

- Minimum funding level benefited affluent schools
