The US, the UK, Australia, Europe and the Nordics are all sweating about the rise of private equity in health care.

We should be carefully monitoring what is happening here, and learning from them there. I fear we are doing neither.

Been at the ER of Dartmouth General since 6:30 am (5 hours and counting) and guess what? The estimated wait times on the Nova Scotia Health website are completely and total nonsense.

It has been 2 months since hfxgov evicted residents taking shelter in Victoria Park. They arrested one person. They used heavy equipment and did damage to the park. Since that time not a single effort has been made to open the park up for the public. Intentional or incompetence?

After 20 years of fighting for change inside ⁦AFP Global Headquarters⁩ I am walking away.

The world’s largest professional fundraising association has no real interest in change.

The door only swings one way and I am walking through it. linkedin.com/posts/liz-lecl…

In Dec. 2020, after citizen complaints, NS Environment and Climate Change warned the facility to stop accepting “auto fluff” (toxic mixture of used oils, plastics, heavy metals, ground up car parts) which the dump had been burying since 2015, even though it had no official govt approval to do so.

In 2016, just eight years ago, ECEs in Nova Scotia were making $12.84 an hour. Poverty wages, no pensions.

They're now making $22.91 to $28.78 per hour for level 1, 2 and 3 ECEs, and up to $34.54 an hour for ECEs in leadership roles. Child Care Now (Nova Scotia)

Time for a 🧵on unions and democracy.

Since this message and article from Pierre Poilievre came out, plenty of people have tried to say 'me too!'

My message: welcome to the party.

Unions have been here for over 150 years, doing the hard work of organizing. /1
