You find something in a biblical text that doesn't fit. What to do?

Lazy option #1: Dismiss it as an interpolation.
Lazy option #2: Dismiss it as an unexplained anomaly.
Lazy option #3: Procrustese it.

Responsible option #1: Figure it out, even if you have to revisit your…

You've been kidnapped & the characters from the last TV show you watched are coming to rescue you. Who's coming?

I love modern hand dryers. Instead of wiping your hands on your trousers, you get a machine to jet blast the water all over your trousers for you.

The true “idol of family” we see in our age is Christians changing views on sexuality based on their adult children’s views/practices of sexuality.

Who is God in that scenario?

“Overprotection in the real world and underprotection in the virtual world are the major reasons why children born after 1995 became the anxious generation.” Jonathan Haidt’s book gets off to a flying start:

This July’s THINK conference on Reaching Post-Christians is now full. For those who missed out, don’t worry: we’ll be back next year, probably on Isaiah. For those who didn’t: can’t wait to see you in the summer!

With few exceptions:

It doesn't get easier. You won't have more time. Things won't slow down. This isn't just a season. Either you take joy where you are, or you won't.

Who would you rather govern disease and death?

Blind nature?
Evil spirits?
Good God?

“See now that I, even I, am he,
and there is no god beside me;
I kill and I make alive;
I wound and I heal;
and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.” Deuteronomy 32:39

A magnificent read. My understanding of the 2008 crash was limited to what I learned from The Big Short; here, ⁦Adam Tooze⁩ tells a sweeping and compelling story of the collapse and its aftermath. 👏🏼

It’s the Sunday after Easter. Jesus appears, reveals himself to disciples, convinces doubters, blesses those who believe without seeing, and is hailed as “My Lord and my God.”

The same will happen today. It always does. Happy Lord’s Day!

“The Levites shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the LORD is their inheritance, as he promised them.”
—Deut 18:2

Levi (“joined”) was named in hope that he would “join” Jacob to Leah, his wife.

In the same way, the Levites “join” Israel to the LORD, her husband.

“When one rules justly over men,
ruling in the fear of God,
he dawns on them like the morning light,
like sunshine on a cloudless morning,
like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth.”
—2 Sam 23:3-4

Just, God-fearing rulers are like bright morning sunshine or fresh rain.

Another excellent episode from Dominic Sandbrook and Tom Holland on Luther—although given their Covid analogy, I can’t believe they didn’t say that medieval scholastics were merely “following the scientia.” podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the…
