Always amused by the annual photos of Turkeys with green hits and mold. Not a problem you ever see with meat from quality independent butchers.

Another year done. Well done to Dan Hyde & his team with the hardest choral gig of the year. It’s not just the notes, but the pressure and expectation; despite that they still continue to innovate and evolve a living tradition. Merry Christmas everyone. See you here next yr?

There is one genius arc of programming here that will go unnoticed outside the UK. The choral music in the first half of the service was very much ‘advent.’ It took till after sunset to approach Christmas. Brilliant liturgical planning

Everything a Rutter carol should be. But like his two other Christmas commissions for just a little bit classier. Does sound a bit like Philip Wilby’s The Word Made Flesh, mind….

Don’t think we’ll hear this too much in the future… not always a criticism though; A lot of power in the lower parts for effect needed, that many amateur choirs just can’t provide. The Michael Berkeley commission of 2016 is criminally forgotten

Philip Ledger really had the hardest job on music setting ‘a spotless rose’ didn’t he? Every year I hear it and think ‘must programme that next year.’ And every year I forget

I last heard King Jesus hath a garden when I was a child chorister in the wood arrangement. This is just gorgeous though, and so nice to hear again. Voice of my first choirmaster and his insistence on pronunciation loud in my mind

First G flat for OIRDC and now no obligatory choir only verse in O Little Town of Beth. And no massive gap!

We’re throwing up the form book here!

Superb piece and performance of Matthew Martin’s Adam Lay yBounden. So nice to hear pieces which really show the quality of Kings choir, and not just chocolate box carols.

Even by standards, this is an utterly superb example of Received Pronunciation. Can we just give this kid a job on BBC Radio 4 Today so we can wake up to his voice?

Maybe I’m middle aged and boring now, but every time I hear a descant that isn’t the Wilcocks’ arrangements I breathe a sigh of relief. Overfamiliarity has (to me) made them hackneyed, and something I’ve heard sung badly so often.

Our neighbours appear to be going for incarnation of a rather different type this afternoon. The bonfire is massive

Lovely pacing and vibrato on the hardest solo of the year, if a little bit of nerve at the start. Well done lad, extra mince pie for you

Watching on ITV; firstly, what a guest list. Secondly, how refreshing to have a chat show interviewer who just lets his guests talk! He’s silent, they elaborate. Sadly, a bygone era.

Big applause for the ref in today. Got it was a derby, tried to let the game play, and let several things go that many refs would have got whistle and card happy at. Top work.
