The job advert for my current position is now up (Iโ€™m moving I didnโ€™t get fired I promise)

Very happy to chat about the role to anyone interested!

The thing I'm learning from Twitter Discourse today is that apparently the children of immigrants (let alone immigrant children) aren't actually children. V interesting.

I'm begging people to stop being weird. No, it's not 'fine' to have an aversion to any group of people, especially not the most vulnerable. Children are often the group where a nice chunk of other bigotries (racism, sexism, transphobia) are directed towards in policy.

If I were a Conservative candidate in May's council elections, or indeed the General Election later this year, the very last thing I would want is days of headlines of Liz Truss blaming everyone else for her own mistakes. She is the gift that keeps on giving to Labour

I'm curious about what separates hyper-productive academics (multiple papers in a year, multiple books before tenure) from the rest of us.

I find the academic production function very opaque, so I'm curious about people's self-reflections.

I sometimes wonder what my decade in the US did to my anxiety.

I guess I've always been quite anxious (genes and childhood factors), but living in the US really turns the screw somehow.

(Just wait til tomorrow when I post about the effect of coffee on all cause mortality)

Are we seriously doing plagiarism week again?

Honestly, there are just much more important things to be thinking and talking about.

Yes UK salaries aren't the best, UK academia has bureaucratic nonsense, and yes lots to dislike about living in the UK atm, but just FYI I finished teaching two weeks ago and I won't be teaching again until... October ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚

Nearly 3 years after moving from California to London, I have finally finished the ginormous roll of Kirkland brand parchment paper I brought with me. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Query: How do folks in marketing measure emotional response in a survey? Imagine, say, you've shown an advert to some people and you want to know what kind of emotions it is eliciting?

Any ideas appreciated.
