As we reach the end of the decade, (the 20s start tomorrow, not in 2021. The first decade of the arbitrary dating system calculated by Dionysius of Exiguus in 525AD was only 9 years long) here are some Twitter phrases and cricket terms that have run their course:

“It’s an X Y world. We just live in it.” As in “it’s a Shivam Dube world. We just live in it.”
This smug and annoyingly “in the know” phrase was fine first time (around 2016 when Carlos Braithwaite won the WT20). It no longer is and must stop.

“It’s just X Y doing X Y things” as in “It’s just Washington Sundar doing Washington Sundar things.”
This is the exact same problem as the “it’s a Shivam Dube world” gambit. It’s hackneyed, knowing and smug. Please stop this now. (Though an exception can be made for Sundar).
