Kenneth Morris Muriel Vieux - 🇺🇸 🇭🇹 #TheAmericanHaitianPoet Lecia Michelle: Author, Activist & Photographer🐝 @tatertotsmcgee Your intention matters less than the impact those words and that attitude have. It should be abundantly clear to you that Black people do not experience those words in the way you intend and that they are, in fact, harmful to us.

@DoctorWhat7u Kenneth Morris Muriel Vieux - 🇺🇸 🇭🇹 #TheAmericanHaitianPoet Lecia Michelle: Author, Activist & Photographer🐝 @tatertotsmcgee When it's a conversation with established trust and benefit of the doubt has been earned.

Screwing up, being corrected, and then arguing 'I didn't intend...' is an attempt to sidestep accountability.

@DoctorWhat7u mapsandkeys💛 Kenneth Morris HelpHaiti - 🇺🇸 🇭🇹 #TheAmericanHaitianPoet Lecia Michelle: Author, Activist & Photographer🐝 @tatertotsmcgee So you are comfortable saying, 'I don't see you as Black' to a Black person, even though this denies the existence and experience as a Black person in this world, has helped to shape them into the unique person that they are?

@DoctorWhat7u Thee 🐝 Nelson is on Spoutible mapsandkeys💛 Kenneth Morris Muriel Vieux - 🇺🇸 🇭🇹 #TheAmericanHaitianPoet Lecia Michelle: Author, Activist & Photographer🐝 @tatertotsmcgee Sam what we can't understand as white people is the way someone's life is shaped by the racism in our country. Generational trauma, systemic racism with regard to access to care and services, microaggressions and media portrayals and outright hostility or even physical violence.

Treating them the way you would a white person (and being clear, we all have subconscious racial biases instilled from childhood that aren't so easy to erase)

That's why you should show deference in conversations about issues marginalized people face because, simply, they've experienced them and we have not.

@DoctorWhat7u @Legotrekker mapsandkeys💛 Kenneth Morris Muriel Vieux - 🇺🇸 🇭🇹 #TheAmericanHaitianPoet Lecia Michelle: Author, Activist & Photographer🐝 @tatertotsmcgee There's so much to unpack here, but the fact that you are afraid of some 'trap' to be sprung on you if you acknowledge the history, culture, and living reality of Black ppl (???) is really bizarre I have to say.

Maybe this video will help you. youtu.be/jPZEJHJPwIw?t=…
