Last night, one of my fellow sopranos looked at our (hot) bass soloist and *loudly* announced *in front of him* that she wanted to “take him home with her for a variety of reasons,” in case you thought the classical music world was all decorum and grace.

A year ago, I was in the balcony, watching this chorus perform Handel’s Messiah. Now I’m in the loft, on the opposite side of the hall, singing Messiah with them. What a lovely way to close 2024. 🎄

To the lone woman who gave a small “woo!” after we finished the “He Trusted In God” movement of Messiah, just know I love you. To the several different people who left after the Hallelujah chorus even though we still had like 20 minutes left… why? How dare you?

Before I forget, Merry Christmas, god jul, glad tidings, and happy holidays to all of you lovely people. 🎄❤️

I hate that I had to get the “panic attack in public for no reason” kind of anxiety and not the “raving Raskolnikov delirious Russian aesthetic” anxiety.

Damn… we’ve been preparing for this day for a while now, but it’s still a shock to actually see the news. Rest in peace, Mr. President.
