#ArchiveBridge The anticipation was building as, people camped-out and waited for the official royal opening of Forth Road Bridge in September 1964 🌫️ looks like an Edinburgh haar was hanging about too. 🌉 #ForthRoadBridge60 ow.ly/TpG350SWN5W

It has come to my attention that there's a new high-speed rail company in France called "Kevin Speed". It's only logical that a rival operation should be launched here called François Slow or Alain Expensive or Gilles Late or something like that railtech.com/all/2024/08/27…

The Egyptian Door to the Dead at the Grange Cemetery is perhaps the finest example of the Egyptian style in Edinburgh. It was executed by sculptor Robert Thomson, who is interred at Dalry Cemetery, where he completed various monuments including his own. ✨🪦🌳

Andy Arthur 🐣 Threadinburgh 🧵 It was also done as part of the drive to keep Scottish Region’s autonomy. The bargain struck was to close so many miles a year to achieve this. A modern route via Glenfarg would knock just over 25 minutes off Edinburgh to Inverness.

Gold medal made to commemorate the death of Prince Henry, the eldest son of James VI & I. He would have succeeded his father as King of Scotland, England & Ireland had he not died in 1612. This is one of the The Hunterian objects we’ll be handling at the upcoming Understanding King James VI & I Conference.

It seems Lothian Buses have discovered a hole in the space/time continuum along which to route the no. 8 bus, thus covering the 2.5miles from Warriston to Newington in 0 minutes
