The quality of being 'peaceful' has never insulated anyone from police violence. It's important to remember this. The law is not a moral instrument, and police are violence workers.

Notice who standards of 'violence' exist for and who they never seem to apply to. You cannot win the battle of 'peacefulness' because these characterizations have never been grounded in reality or based in any good faith. Kind of like the law: who does it actually apply to?

Noticing some folks reasoning that particular students don't deserve a militant police response bc they are 'peaceful.' I don't care if students break windows, shove back, or throw things; none of them deserve a militarized police response. They're protesting a genocide.

for The Nation, I wrote about Emory, Cop City, and the police violence and brutality aimed at righteous protest. long story short: when you put all your resources into militarizing policing, militarized police become the answer to everything. thenation.com/article/archiv…

Students occupying Hamilton Hall at Columbia have renamed it Hind’s Hall.

Hind Rajab was a six year old girl murdered by Israeli tanks.

In her final moments, she made a call to the emergency services and said, “I'm so scared, please come. Come take me. Please, will you come?”

Maybe its time to share educational-only materials of occupations *inside* of university buildings, drafted by dreamers, students, and radicals in 2012. Read the how-to guide (PDF) here: indybay.org/uploads/2012/0…
