The EU is giving €10bn in aid to European countries hit by the recent floods. Every such disaster will cost billions. We will spend big on climate, either way. But it's far more effective and humane to spend the money on prevention than on endlessly picking up the pieces.

See, the thing with negative gearing is that it was designed for people to be able to secure their/kids’ futures…you know, like investing in 1 or 2 homes. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t intended for people to have 10, 40, 65 houses to become insanely rich while others are homeless.

Fun fact. There is enough actinide metal (thorium and uranium) on Earth to sustain breeder reactors, which produce more fissile material than they consume, leading to enough fuel to satisfy the world's energy needs at 1983 levels for 5-billion years, making nuclear energy

Once you understand Kardashev Scale, it becomes utterly obvious that essentially all energy generation will be solar. Also, just do the math on solar on Earth and you soon figure out that a relatively small corner of Texas or New Mexico can easily serve all US electricity.
