RAINY DAYS AHEAD 🌧 We are about to enter an active weather period with multiple rounds of rain through early next week. Some areas could pick up as much as 3" of rain in the next 7 days. This active pattern will likely persist through the middle of February!

The Storm Prediction Center has introduced a marginal (level 1/5) risk for the northern part of our viewing area. This is a low-end threat, but damaging wind gusts and hail will be possible between 5 and 11 PM ET. Stay WEATHER AWARE!

We have a shot at a record-high temperature in Chattanooga on Saturday! Enjoy the warmth, because cooler temperatures will return next week.

WET WEATHER AHEAD 🌧: Multiple rounds of heavy rain will lead to flooding concerns over the next 7 days. 6-9" of rain will be possible through this weekend!

Be prepared for wet roads this morning as the first round of light rain moves in from the southwest. Scattered light morning showers will transition to widespread moderate to heavy rain this afternoon. A Flood Watch will go into effect at noon for most of our coverage area!

HIGH WIND & STORM THREAT ⚠️ A strong low-pressure system will drag a cold front across the Tennessee Valley later this evening. A squall line will develop along this front and move from west to east between 9 PM and 3 AM ET. Strong winds of 50-60 mph will be possible.

A severe thunderstorm remains in effect for Jackson, Dekalb, Dade, Chattooga, and Walker Counties. 60 mph wind gusts and heavy rain will be the main impacts.

RADAR CHECK: We are tracking steady rain this morning with an occasional rumble of thunder. The rain will taper off between 6-7 AM, and there will be NO SEVERE WEATHER between now and then.

As of this morning, the fire near Daus Mountain Road in Sequatchie County is about 50% contained. Smoke from the fire will likely spread across portions of Hamilton, Bradley, Whitfield, and Murray Counties as northwesterly winds pick up later today.

The rain is moving out, and the rest of the day will feature clearing conditions and comfortable temperatures!

TUESDAY FORECAST: Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s this afternoon with plenty of sunshine. It will be breezy with gusts as high as 20-30 mph. Recent dry conditions could lead to an elevated fire threat during the afternoon and evening.

POOR AIR QUALITY ⚠️ We are waking up to poor air quality due to smoke from several prescribed burns and brush fires to our south. The air quality will remain in the poor range for much of the day, so limiting time outdoors will be a good idea.

After a stormy morning, a secondary flare-up of heavy rain and storms will come through between 9 AM and 2 PM ET. The severe threat will not be very high with this round, but a few strong to severe storms will be possible.
