How well do you think technology decisions makers really understand their business problems, how a possible solution should align with a given org strategy, and how much 'modernization' is really needed?

I wonder how much of tech debt is contributed by technologists/leaders making the wrong vendor tech decisions, it struggling, and then those decisions makers saying 'peace out, on to my next gig'

Google Cloud accidentally deleted a company's entire cloud environment (Unisuper, an investment company, which manages $80B). The company had backups in another region, but GCP deleted those too. Luckily, they had yet more backups on another provider.

Christian Posta I'd say Platform Engineering is shaping a Platform to meet the needs of your Apps and, historically, a PaaS is shaping your Apps to meet the needs of the Platform

Christian Posta Platform engineering is a team failing to create an IDP whereas Platform as a Service is a team failing to create Heroku.

someone explain to me the differences between platform engineering (current buzz word) to offer self service through a platform and “platform as a service” which we’ve been talking about for 10+ years
