This week in 1945 Mickey McBride founded @browns 🏈 After fans chose the “Panthers” in a fave team name contest, McBride paid tribute to his new Coach Paul Brown with the name. McBride became the winningest owner in #CLE history winning 4 straight AAFC champions + an NFL Title 🏆

Today in 1903 Cleveland Safety Director Eliot Ness was born. After battling Al Capone’s bootlegging “untouchables” in Chicago, Ness later became Safety Director City of Cleveland Running for #CLE Mayor in 1947 Ness was defeated 2-1 by Thomas Burke. Ness’ gravesite is Lake View Cemetery

Today in 1922, as one of seven classical buildings in Daniel Burnham’s Group Plan, Public Auditorium opened. On opening day it was the largest building for convention use in the country. Over the decades it’s seen a multitude of uses including HOF Inductions Rock Hall 🎸

In 1992, Marcia Fudge hired me at the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

She helped kickstart my law — and subsequently judicial — career.
