If Israel's answer to Palestinians in the West Bank who put down arms and are using nonviolence to protest the occupation is to turn their territory to Swiss cheese, then what message are they sending exactly? You should reward nonviolence, not punish it.

My question is: people in the West always cheekily ask where is Palestinian Gandhi? Well many of them are in Israeli prisons, others are shot dead by snipers who are never punished, others are like Issa Amro, waiting for the West to reward his nonviolence instead of ignoring it.

If Israelis get to treat Palestinians this way and Palestinians just sit there and take it, Israel calls it 'peace.' I don't think that's peace. That's just them having the monopoly over violence. Actual peace comes when everyone has civil rights.

The reality is, if I treated anyone where I live like Israeli settlers treat the Palestinians, I'd get shot. But the Palestinians have no right to self defense. If they shoot a settler who breaks into their home, the IDF will come and bulldoze their neighborhood.

I've interviewed Issa and spoken to people who lived in the West Bank for years and this is just normal life for them being harassed and violated. Of course terrorism is wrong. I don't think Americans would tolerate this being done to them 100% nonviolently either though.
