House leaders had opposed the Senate’s strict work requirement bc it would prevent Medicaid expansion from taking effect unless the federal government approves the kind of work-requirement waiver that it has rejected in the past. But the House compromised.

How does this help our unemployed workforce, disabled Veterans, and elderly who are currently living on a fixed income? Basically, every Mississippian would have to get a part-time job working 25hrs a week to qualify for Medicaid expansion under this “compromise” plan.

NEW: Mississippi is on the verge of adopting a new school funding formula emphasizing equity. It focuses more resources to students who require more funding, like special needs students and those in poverty.

It's headed to Gov. Reeves' desk.

'A state holiday' means 'Confederate Memorial Day,' but a lot of state agencies are justifiably too embarrassed to mention it by name.

A mom in Oklahoma is serving 30 years in prison because her boyfriend beat her and her kid. She was blamed—and got punished harsher than he did.

Lawmakers just passed a bill that could help moms with cases like this. But the governor wants to block it. motherjones.com/politics/2024/…
