Douglas Mawson was born in Yorkshire on 5 May, 1882.

Although is primarily known for his Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-14, he was part of ’s Nimrod expedition & he also led the BANZARE 1929–31.

Capt. Raymond Edward Priestley, Royal Engineers, gave a lecture in the Public Hall Worcester 4 May, 1916.

The lecture was entitled ‘The Pleasant Side of Four Years’ Exploration Around the South Pole’.

Priestley was geologist in Antarctica with Shackleton & Scott.

He was MP for in 1715–27.
I've used his work about the Boyles.
