Journalist acatwithnews describes being arrested at UCLA around 6:30 am—despite repeatedly identifying himself as a member of the press—and finally being released at 3pm with no charges. 'I’m angry, I’m annoyed, I’m absolutely shocked at the unprofessionalism'

I am so lucky to call Sean and Cerise dear friends and I am SO GLAD Sean is out of jail. Reporters should never, ever be arrested for doing their job, and per Adam Rose it sounds like the curfew UCLA PD got him on doesn’t apply to reporters.

Shout out to dozens of editors, lawyers, colleagues and friends who mobilized to support both Sean and William today. Lots of behind the scenes advocacy to agencies and officials. But the realest are those who dropped everything and went down to the jail. twitter.com/ACatWithNews/s…

Tomorrow LACountyBOS is set to approve over $27 million in settlements related to LA County Sheriffs.

Includes a $3.3m settlement in case of Dijon Kizzee, a Black cyclist shot and killed in 2020 sparking protests and John Klene & Eduardo Dumbrique, both wrongfully convicted 23 years ago

UCPD arrested acatwithnews & Film The Police LA at UCLA this AM. LASD transport, LAPD booking. The two provided the most comprehensive live coverage of UCLA response to protests last week. No authority will answer questions. Outrageous. I warned UCLA admin to prevent exactly this.

.acatwithnews is at the Van Nuys LAPD jail.

Cops arrested a reporter, alleging conspiracy to commit burglary.

This is the latest attack on a free press.

Journalists and several others were arrested at UCLA this morning in a parking garage.

Our campus isn’t a war zone, and we can’t continue to treat students like it is.

They should all be released.

This morning’s reports of UCPD detaining reporters & legal observers is completely unconscionable.

They must be released immediately. The fundamental freedom of the press is at stake.
