He did this because the Church of England representative in Parliament said that the CofE didn’t support criminalisation of abortion

He is just acknowledging the truth that the Catholic Church is actually anti-abortion, as unlike the CofE we have principles beyond Erastianism

Ciarán Ó Múrchadha Tbh it seems to me that if its conceded that Rome’s primacy is of divine origin and not merely due to accidental features, then that is extremely difficult for the EO side. Itd be like saying the episcopacy is of divine origin but every single bishop in the world fell into heresy

Though illegal to harm an unborn child in 1586, pregnant Margaret Clitherow was executed for her faith: stripped naked, laid down, with hands and feet tied to posts, a sharp stone placed beneath her back with as much weight laid upon her until she was slowly crushed to death

'Here lies Robert Peckham. Englishman and Catholic. Who, after England's break with the Church, left England not being able to live without the Faith. And who, coming to Rome, died, not being able to live without his country.'

How many more were like him?...

The Church of 'England' cannot, by the nature of the very term, go back to the Roman Empire.

The English were converted on the direction of a great Pope (St Gregory the Great) and his missionaries (led by St Augustine) from 597AD.

'Non angli sed angeli.'

'In condemning us, you condemn all your own ancestors, all that was once the glory of England—the island of saints, & the most devoted child of the See of Peter.'

St Edmund Campion was killed by Protestant Anglicans and died a martyr for the Apostolic Catholic faith of England.

Yes the Catholic Church in England has roots going back to the Roman Empire.

The “Church of England” began in the 16th century and then proceeded to fine, imprison, torture, and execute those who refused to change their religion at the whims of a King and then a Queen

The 200 years of persecution against Catholics, in which the ecclesial community of Anglicans participated, proves the lie that they peddle -- that they trace their establishment back to the Roman Catholics

The founder of the Anglican ecclesial community was the heresiarch Henry…

The Church IN England dates back to Roman times.
The church OF England dates back to a fat lascivious King wanting a divorce.
