#StopHICPAC If you'd like to record a comment that you didn't get to make at the HICPAC meeting, there is a zoom recording session on Thursday 1 PM ET. Email Yaneer Bar-Yam at [email protected] for a zoom link. Be sure to send your written comments to CDC: [email protected].
#StopHICPAC Without an infectious disease standard from OSHA, we're going to need to get CDC to improve its guidelines for aerosol transmission on our own. We need to all act together on this. Safe healthcare professionals means safe patients, communities, & families.
#StopHICPAC CDC and the HICPAC chair didn't even bother to say thank you for the public comments. I was gratified by how people talked about aerosol transmission and respirators. We know so much more than they do about what should be happening in healthcare.
#StopHICPAC #COVIDisAirborne Thank you to everyone who got a chance to make your comments during the 14-min public comment period at yesterday's HICPAC meeting. The stories were moving, informative, thoughtful, and deeply frustrating for me. youtube.com/watch?v=msjoFG…
#COVIDisAirborne HICPAC needs to completely rethink how we approach disease transmission and prevention in healthcare settings. It's not a matter of surgical masks vs. respirators, but revising our understanding that there are exposures to hazardous aerosols in many shared space.
#COVIDisAirborne If every healthcare professional had had an elastomeric respirator at the start of the pandemic, there would have been no shortages and everyone else could have had an N95 filtering facepiece respirator - workers and the public. Think where we'd be today.
#COVIDisAirborne NIOSH has been researching the use of elastomeric (reusable) respirators in healthcare for a number of years. cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/re…(EHMRs,filtration%20(e.g.%2C%20N95).

Where are the June 2023 minutes? Is this really a federal advisory committee? Look at the NACOSH (OSHA FAC) charter: osha.gov/advisorycommit…
