Wow. The entire Letters to the Editor section responding to my column. Including one from a City Councillor who dislikes scramble crossings and hates slip lanes. I think most pedestrians would be satisfied if we started by removing slip lanes.

CCA says the average cost of owning a vehicle is more than $10,000 per year. The average purchase price of a new vehicle is more than $50,000.

Yet when you advocate for people who walk and bike (and this case own small business) you are the ‘elitist’.

I like visionary though!

Kelly is right. I didn’t mention those things. Because they are either victim blaming or nonsense. Except that thing about emergency vehicles changing lights to green….that sounds like a good idea.

When we study traffic impacts on road design, we use the highest volume hour on weekdays. The worst case scenario. Why don’t the conditions for the 163 of 168 hours in the week that are not at peak traffic volumes, factor into our decisions? Here’s the River and Osborne study:

My column. Osborne is Winnipeg’s most prominent commercial high street, at the centre of its densest and fastest growing residential neighbourhood. Yet commuter traffic dictates its design, making it unsafe & unwelcoming for local residents & businesses.

My column tomorrow. Winnipeg’s Public Works recently rejected a proposal to make an important urban intersection safer. The priorities of commuter traffic again supersede the wishes of inner city residents and businesses for a safe, livable, and commercially prosperous community.

I’ve never met Lanny Silver but I appreciate that there’s an architect out there confident enough to not use perfectly aligned Helvetica font for his sign.

To clarify. Poilievre’s ‘city bonus’ plan is to come from a $100 million program for the entire country. Enough to build a single 400 unit apartment building. The current government’s Housing Accelerator Fund gives $4 billion to cities to help them build housing.

Time to reconnect the Winnipeg Jets 1.0 franchise history and records to the Winnipeg Jets 2.0. Archive the Atlanta years.

I often get stopped on the street by people who want to chat. I always enjoy it.

Just rode past a guy who yells from the sidewalk. “Hey Brent Bellamy” I waved and said “Hi, how are you?” He yells back, “F*CK YOU, YOU GENTRIFYING LOSER!”

Pretty funny. Real life trolling is rare.
