We used to have a wonderful (male) music teacher who would dress up as Britannia every year at our school 'Last Night of the Proms' and Sing Rule Britannia. It was one of the highlights of the year. I had the honour one year of providing the explosions for the 1812 overture!

Got a really promising match on one of my dating apps, it would be just before I leave the country for 2 months. Somebody has certainly had a sense of humour...

I was watching an episode of Porridge last night and out of interest Googled Richard Beckinsale. He was born in the same year as my dad which seems so weird (now my dad's 77), as he's forever frozen in your mind at the age he was then. So much unrealised potential. Tragic.

Starmer saying "Lootenant" seems trivial but honestly, if you're a British man aged 62 and you still say "lootenant", it gives genuinely useful information about your cultural influences, the kind of circles you move in, the sort of people you meet (and indeed don't meet).

I'd be amazed if pedestrianising Oxford Street wasn't wildly popular with Londoners - pollsters Redfield and Wilton last year found that residents support pedestrianising "the entirety of central London" by 53% to 24% redfieldandwiltonstrategies.com/plurality-of-lโ€ฆ

This is good news but I think this pretty much confirms the end of the Commonwealth Games as we know it. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/โ€ฆ
