Here’s a brief look at the regionally mega-rare, US vagrant, “Fork-tailed Flycatcher”, as it hovers about on a dreary overcast day at NY’s Randall’s Island. 05/21/2025 *Apparently bird is still being seen this AM.

Just as I was exiting the South pond mudflat on a late afternoon at Jamaica Bay, out pop this quail looking bird. Much to my surprise and delight, it was a Sora. Terrible light, but I was able to get off a few shots as It briefly walked the edge along the high reeds.

Lovely golden hour light made for some delightful backdrop photography of the Ruby-throated hummingbirds during a recent visit to the Heather Garden in Ft. Tryon.

This Merlin was having a field day (pun intended) with dragonflies in the North ballfields of Central Park. Picking them off, one after another, nonstop over the course of two hours. This went on for several days.

Despite the distance, I was fortunate to have just enough evening light to capture this beautiful Kingfisher diving for dinner at the Pool in Central Park.
