The Moyles Court Oak was a landmark New Forest heritage tree, but it died this year. It is thought to be at least 500 years old. Think of the generations of our ancestors that have seen this tree as they went about their daily lives. It is an irreplaceable cultural asset.

An oil painting I illustrated a few years ago depicting a bat pitcher plant and its resident: the pitchers possess the optimal shape and dimensions for the bats to roost; the plant benefits from nutrients in the bats' droppings.

Have you ever seen the red river hog? This social animal can be found in groups of 20+ individuals. Using its sharp sense of smell, it tracks down snacks like fruits, seeds, grasses, & nuts. It may also eat carrion... or elephant dung if there are undigested seeds in it!
