I’m on my way to Parliament to talk to MPs and Peers about why we have profound concerns about the Oak National Academy. Oak is a supposedly independent “arms length” body. However…

NEU is also pleased that the British Educational Suppliers Association and the Society of Authors have lodged a judicial review. Oak will damage all other education suppliers, reducing teacher choice enormously.

Oak isn’t independent it’s another huge attack on teacher autonomy. Nick Gibb says it will reduce workload, but only by reducing professional discretion and efficacy even further.

Workload should be reduced by reducing the burden of accountability, by trusting teachers more, not trusting them less.
