Satoshi almost certainly knew Wei Dai and was trying to obscure that relationship.

Looking at the Nov 2008 version of Satoshi's Bitcoin code - it's partial code and does not compile...

but one thing you can clearly see here is that he was using CryptoPP's implementation…
